A week of milagros!!
¡Hola hola! ¿Como estan?
This past week was super bien!!! One of the best and craziest weeks I´ve had so far for sure!! One of my favorite things about being a missionary is that while doing the Lord's work - we literally get to see and experience miracles cada dia.Two of the biggest milagros en este semana pasada fue divisiones and my FIRST baptism!!! YAY!!
Basically, divisiones (exchanges) are when the Hermana Capas (Sister Training Leaders) come to our area and we switch companions for a day! It was funny though because they literally told us on Tuesday night that we were going to have divisiones Wednesday and Hermana Folau and I were like WHAAATT?!? It normally doesn't happen until the 3rd or 4th week in the transfer and literally I had only been in the field for 6 days (and only worked in Mosconi 4/6 of those days). So yeah you could say I was a little stressed Wednesday morning because being with one of the Hna Capas in Mosconi would mean that I would need to LEAD this area - with only a few days of experience. But it actually turned out to be way FUN!! It seriously a day of miracles because I didn't get lost once!! Hna Huntsman (my comp for the day) and I and were able to make all our appointments as well as find A TON of new people!! IT was the best!! Haha the Hna Capas apparently didn't know I was so new and so they felt bad having divisiones so early in the transfer with me but I ́m actually so so grateful I was able to have that experience and truly have to rely on the Lord. I know that as we turn to Him in our times of need, He will watch over us and guide us.
Hna Huntsman was also the cutest!! It was super cool because this transfer is actually her very LAST transfer before she goes home, and this is my very FIRST transfer so our perspectives were very different!! I learned so much from her energy and excitement for la obra misional! She had no fear of talking with anyone and gave me new ideas for how to teach lessons and really love the people here.
The second miracle this week was the baptism of Brayan!! He is a boy who is friends with a member named Perla and has been to church several times, but has been hard for the missionaries to find in order to teach. This week though we were able to find and teach him! We set up his baptism for this past Saturday!! But let me tell you I learned that the power of Satan is also real because SO many problems came up last minute Saturday morning to stop him from being baptized. Our zone leaders came to Mosconi that morning to conduct his baptismal interview. Because he is a little slow, the elders told us it was probably best to get the permission of his family before we baptized him even though he is 18. We had never heard his family had any problems with our church before so we figured it would be easy to get their permission. Well literally in the middle of his interview Brayan´s tia called us and said that she did NOT want Brayan to be baptized. Hna Folau and I literally almost started crying because we had spent ALL week trying to prepare him! Brayan was also SO SO sad because he had been so excited for this day and it broke my heart! But, then thankfully the members here are AMAZING and one of the members and our Branch President decided to come with us to the tia´s house to talk with her. When she first saw us and started talking (from what I could understand) - she was very against Brayan being baptized and kept saying no over and over. But as the member with us kept talking with her (I could only make out bits of Spanish because they were mumbling and speaking SO fast) I prayed with everything in me for her heart to be softened. And it was!! By the end of the conversation she signed the form and we invited her to the baptism! IT was incredible. One of the biggest tender mercies I ́ve received so far on my mission. It was a testament to me that while Satan will try everything to stop people from progressing - the work will go forth if it is God's will because His power is ALWAYS stronger. I know without a doubt that God and Jesus Christ live. I can feel the hand of God in everything I do and experience as a missionary. It is the best!!
Even though Brayan´s baptism was a lot of work, it was worth it in the end. It made me so happy to see his huge smile in the font. This is what missionary work is all about! Bringing souls to Christ!!
I hope you all have an awesome week and a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! Since they don't celebrate it here sadly haha please eat lots of turkey and pumpkin pie for me!! Also good luck to Maddie and Nate on your wedding day!! I wish more than anything I could be there!! Sending all my love from Argentina!!
