All good things must come to an end...ciao Hna Folau:(
Hola guys!!
Today is transfer day and the ending of my
training!! Crazy how time flies. This week was depressing having to say goodbye
to the best comp, Hna Folau!! Wow I am going to miss her. Haha we had a lot of
slow moments together both being pretty new and confused and she actually
became one of my best friends. Also bc she's Poly (the ONLY other Poly Hna in
the mission!!!) and Polys are the best. But it's okay she's not going very
far... only like 12 hours away to the most southern part of my mission!! Lol
its fine, I ́m fine.
But I am getting a madrastra (stepmother)!!! She will get
here tonight so more about her next week :) I'm excited!! My zone is actually switching
out a lot of our missionaries - which is sad because we actually became close
as a zone, but I'm excited to get to know some new missionaries. The other 2
hermanas in my district left too :(
This past week work wise was a little harder than the weeks
before. Right now it is summer vacations here in Argentina. Everyone is out of
school and work so many of our people left for vacation. Ayelen
left to Neuquen so we couldn't have her baptism, but hopefully we will be able
to when she comes back next month!
We did have a cool experience with Soldad though. We've
been teaching her for a while and she's been going to church for about a month
with her daughter Antonella, which has been awesome! So this week we invited her
to be baptized this past Saturday and this caused her to get very upset with
us. She said she still doesn't feel ready and did not want us to try to put a
specific baptismal date with her for her to work towards. So we invited her to
read the Book of Mormon of course and begin praying about her baptism for help
to feel ready (which she still has not been able to do because she has been to busy). Well after that lesson I was feeling pretty discouraged about them but
then the next day when we went to their house, her cousin was there who is a
member!! We were able to have an awesome lesson with him where he really bore
his testimony to her of how much the church had changed his life and how
important it is for her to begin reading the Book of Mormon and exercise her
faith. When Saturday rolled around we went back to visit her and I was a little
scared she was going to be closed off again, but this time she had experienced
a FULL change of heart! She told us she had finally begun reading the Book of Mormon
and even though there is still a lot she has to learn, she KNOWS it is the word
of God!! Ahhh hearing her say those words made me SO HAPPY because I was like "YES!! That's what I've been trying to tell you this whole time!!" I know the
Book of Mormon is true and when we really actually decide to read it for
ourselves with an open mind and an open heart it can work miracles in our
lives! It can answer our questions and give us personal revelation. She said
she felt good about beginning to plan for a baptismal date and knows this is
what God wants her to do!! Milagro!!!!
This week we also got to go to interviews with President in
Oran - which was fun because I just love President Orquera! He is so caring to
all of us missionaries!!
Hna Folau and I also got to try some guiso de pato y higado
:)) (liver and duck pasta) with the Familia Cruz. Haha let's just say it was not
my favorite... but I'm sure that won't be the last time Ill have to eat some
liver and duck, so maybe I should learn to like it haha....
Anyways wish me luck with my new comp this week!! Hope
you all have an awesome week!!
Con cariño,
Hna Tate
