FELIZ AÑO NUEVO!!!!!
HEY y'all!! GUESS WHO'S A TRUE MISSIONARY NOW??? Haha here in
my mission all the missionaries say you're not a "true missionary"
until you've been robbed or bitten by a dog - and guess who was bitten by a dog
this week ?!?!? This girl WOOHOO!!! lucky me hahaha
No but seriously... I think I've already mentioned this but
we have a serious dog problem in Mosconi. There are like as many dogs as
humans, if not more (each family has A LEAST like 5 or 6). And let me tell
you... these dogs are NOT like the dogs in the U.S. They are spawns of Satan
and probably all have some sort of disease or rabies. So it was my biggest fear
to get bit by one! But Thursday morning we had a lesson with Andres and were
planning to teach him about temples. Since we hadn't taught many lessons about
temples I decided to read the read the pamphlet on temples while we were
walking. Well that was my mistake. We got to his house and I was looking at my book
when my companion clapped. Well she didn't notice there was a huge pitbull about
10 ft away from us and Andres ́ gate was OPEN!! So this pitbull came pouncing
through the gate and I was too close to get away. I thought maybe he would
just jump on me or something but NOPE he bit my leg and then ran away. It all
happened in like .2 seconds. Well getting bit by dogs in our mission is
apparently pretty serious so we called President and he told us to go directly
to the hospital in Tartagal and have them look at it. Thankfully the pitbull
bit through my pants and it was very superficial so I didn't need a shot or
stitches haha. But going to the hospital made me realize I really should be
more careful because I never want to have to go there again. It was like a hospital
out of a scary movie and I don't think I trust any of the
"doctors" here. I did learn a new phrase though - "el perro me
mordio" is how to say the dog bit me, but mordio sounds exactly like
morrio which means to die and is pretty accurate considering I could have died
from rabies. Haha jk, I ́m actually completely fine. But the moral of the story
is that I am now a "true" missionary WOOHOO!!!
Haha anyways other than that this past week was good! For
Christmas eve we ate dinner at a member's house in Tartagal with the rest of
my district. It was fun but we didn't start eating until 9pm and so we
didn't get home until like almost midnight haha. For Christmas here the
big celebration is on Christmas eve. People here normally stay up all night
eating, drinking, and doing fireworks, and then sleep all Christmas day. So it
was kinda hard to find people on Christmas morning. But in the afternoon we put
together some little goodie bags for our members with some candy from the
states. I put on my Santa hat and passed them out and all the kids were so
happy! It was the best :)
Thursday after the hospital we left to Salta Capital for 6
semanas! 6 semanas is basically a mini conference for everyone in my group who
came to the mission at the same time as me to see how our training is going. So
I GOT TO SEE HNA HUGHES (my companion from the CCM)!!!! IT WAS THE BEST!!! Haha
we are both praying that sometime in the future we get to be comps again!!
Espero!!
We headed back from Salta on Friday evening and didn't get
back to Mosconi until Saturday morning. Sadly Andres was still having problems
keeping some of the commandments so we had to push his baptism back:( But he
came to church by himself!!!) I know that change is a process and takes time so
hopefully sometime in the future we can have his baptism!
In general this week was pretty busy for us with lots of
traveling to Tartagal and Salta so we didn't get to work a lot in our area. But
it was nice getting to spend some time with other missionaries and experience
Christmas here in Argentina! I can't believe how fast time is flying by here!!
Tomorrow will mark 3 months as a missionary and be 2020!!!! WOOHOO!!! One of my
goals for 2020 is to really give ALL my voluntad (will) to my Heavenly Father
as one of His servants. I know that He knows what is best and has a plan for
us. Something that I find myself always teach others is "Dios es nuestro
amoroso Padre Celestial. Aunque no somos perfecto, Dios tiene un plan para
nosotros y este plan es perfecto. Podemos siempre confiar en Él." I
know that this is true. I love my Heavenly Father and I am excited to see what
this new year will bring! Feliz Año Nuevo!!! Ill write you guys again in
2020!!! haha Love and miss you all!!
Con amor,
Hna Tate
