Adios Argentina :(

Hey guys!!

So just wanted to keep y'all updated on what's been going on here in Argentina if you haven't already heard. Unfortunately my mission is one of the many missions in the world that has been forced to send all the missionaries home to their native countries due to the risks of the corona virus. So I will have to return home to the U.S. where I will hopefully be able to finish my missionary service. Out of the 180 missionaries in my mission, only about 15 are from Argentina and will be able to stay. The church is working hard to get us all home safely as soon as possible, but right now we are not too sure on when that will be. Hopefully it will be within the next couple of weeks, as the entire country of Argentina right now is on quarantine lock down until the 1st of April.

We got the news last night and since then it has been very heartbreaking for all of us. I honestly never expected to have to leave Argentina so early into my mission and will miss this country dearly. I have grown to love the people, language, culture, and of course the food with ALL MY HEART!! Not to mention leaving my mission president and his wife, and so many other friends I have made in this mission. But I know I am not alone in this trial as so many other missions are forced to send their missionaries home as well. And times of trial and confusion have just made me that much more grateful for this restored gospel and my Savior. He is the ONLY way we can find real peace amidst the struggles and tribulations of this life. I am so so grateful for a living prophet, President Nelson, who we can put our full trust in as a servant of the Lord. I am so grateful for this short time I have had here in Argentina to get to share the Lord´s plan of happiness with his children. I know the Lord is mindful of each and every one of us in our situations and whatever way we might be affected by this virus. May we continue to turn to Him for comfort and peace!

Other than that, this week was pretty boring. We were put into quarantine on Tuesday night so its been pretty uneventful. But Tuesday afternoon we were able to find a girl named Milagros who was a milagro!! We went to the house of Alejandra (a contact from last week) who we put an appointment with and instead of finding her we found her niece Milagros. She told us she had taken the lessons from the missionaries last year and was really interested but then got really busy with school so she wasn't able to continue. Well thanks to the corona virus she said since she wasn't in school she had tons of time to listen to us once again. We had an AMAZING lesson with her and she agreed to be baptized!! Hopefully whatever missionaries come serve in La Loma next will be able to find her and baptize her!!

Our members here have also been awesome this past week and continue to bring food and groceries to our apartment! Not to mention my mission president is amazing and was able to distribute food storage to ALL the areas of my mission only hours before we were all put in quarantine! Milagro!! We also had a member and his wife come to our apartment yesterday to give us the Santa Cena. It was quite the experience and made me so so grateful for the priesthood and organization of the church that allows us to continue living the gospel even from within our own homes.

Well, even though I have no idea what the future might bring I know this is not the end. I will try to keep you guys updated on where my mission journey takes me next! Please keep all the missionaries and their mission presidents in your prayers who may be going through similar things. I love you all and hope you are staying safe and careful!

Con amor,
Hna Tate
