Well, well, well how the tables have turned
Hey guys!
Sooo not gonna lie, this week was a little slower than most. Haha before when I was in Argentina a slow week would be if we only found like 20 new people to teach... but now here in quarantine we are lucky if we find maybe 1 new person to teach. Oh how the tables have turned...
But this week we actually found 2 NEW FRIENDS!! We were searching through our area book for new people to call and found this one man named Atencion who had been taught almost all the lessons and been to church multiple times. We called and he answered and we ended up dropping a Book of Mormon off at his house!
Also, we were FINALLY able to get a hold of a referral from a member. Her name is Cindy and she is normally super busy with work so she has never answered her phone. However, on Saturday she finally answered! During our phone lesson she actually got pretty choked up and I could feel the spirit so strong. It was awesome. At first I was pretty sad when a lot of our lessons this week cancelled, but now as I look back I know that because they cancelled we were able to reach out to other people we otherwise wouldn't have had time for! I know when God closes doors He will always open other ones of opportunity!
This week we also had exchanges which was fun! Except I was with Sister Ball who only speaks English lol. Sooo I got to teach all of our lessons by myself in Spanish which I've never done. It was pretty fun for me, but it might have been a little boring for her. Haha being in the states, my opportunities to speak Spanish are a little limited as compared to Argentina... so I'll take any chance I can get :)
We also got to teach Erick in person again this week. That kid is seriously awesome. It's been cool to see him not only progress and get baptized, but also CONTINUE to progress even AFTER his baptism. He remembers like almost everything we taught him before! The only thing that makes me happier than witnessing one of our investigators get baptized, is seeing them remain converts in the church. I think back to my other converts in Argentina and hope and pray they are still going to church!
Sadly this week is President Wells last week as our mission president. For our last weekly letter to him, he asked that we write about how our mission has made a difference in our lives. I honestly don't even know where to begin with that question. My mission so far has NOT been what I expected. It has been a roller coaster to say the least. Haha the scope of challenges I've faced range from physical challenges in walking miles on dirt roads until I got holes in my shoes and getting bit by a dog who could've had rabies (hopefully not lol) to emotional challenges in being sent home, reassigned, and sent here to California during a worldwide pandemic. But the constant in my life has been the gospel and a Heavenly Father who has helped me along the way. I know that this mission that I have served has made all the difference in my life because it has turned me EVEN more towards Him and towards my Savior. I know my Savior suffered for me and for every one of us and He is with us in every challenge and every triumph! This gospel is true and my decision to serve and stay on a mission has been the best one I've made so far :)
Have a blessed week!
Con amor,
Hna Tate
