Whoaahhh we're halfway there...!!
Hey y'all!
This week actually went by pretty fast, which is good. I cannot believe it is almost July!! On Wednesday I hit my HALFWAY MARK of being a missionary!! 9 MONTHS! I remember at the beginning of my mission when I thought this day would never come! Time is a weird thing in general and even crazier on the mission. I am so grateful I have 9 more months though to continue to do this sacred work:)
This week Hna Ayala & I got asked to be the Facebook coordinators for the Spanish Facebook page of our half of the mission! Turns out the worldwide experiment with missionaries using Facebook didn't give the church exactly the results they expected, but we are going to continue to try new things with Facebook. We have seen some success from when we put our ads out on Facebook and then in turn people can refer themselves so I think our mission is going to focus more on that side of outreach!
We actually saw a miracle with that this week in finding Gerardo!! He was a self-referral from an ad and actually said he wanted to learn more about the Bible! We of course tried introducing him to the Book of Mormon, but he said he didn't want to get confused. So we focused our lesson using only Bible scriptures and it was actually pretty cool! The spirit was definitely there as we taught using Jesus Christ as the PERFECT example! I feel like on my mission I have gained a new appreciation for the Bible as I've been reading it and studying it along with the Book of Mormon. They really do testify of one another and I know that together they contain the FULLNESS of the gospel of Jesus Christ :)
This week we of course did a lot of working with the members in this ward. We got to visit my new favorite family in the ward in their home and it reminded me of how nice it is to be in a member's home! Our homes really can be temples as we let the spirit reside there. We also had some members CALL US instead of us calling them to see how we're doing and it MADE MY DAY!! If you are ever bored, PLEASE call up your local missionaries because they are probably bored too and would love to talk to you!
Yesterday President & Sister Wells shared their last words and it was sad but good. President Wells talked about a lot of times in life we don't really know the value of something until someone explains it to us. We need to know where it comes from and what it has been through in order for it to mean something to us. He then compared that to the gospel and said that the WORLD doesn't know how valuable the gospel is until WE as missionaries explain it to them. That is our job. To explain the value and worth of the gospel to everyone!! The gospel is worth EVERYTHING to me and I feel so lucky to get to explain its value to others! May we never take the gospel for granted!!
Well, I hope yall have a great week & wear your masks:)
Con amor,
