California like a fire is burning
Hey hey hey!! Como estan todos?
This week was pretty lit! We're actually on FIRE here in Cali!! Literally. Some might say even smoky. And ashy. Jk the fires aren't too bad, but definitely not something I'm used to. There is a big one near the mission office about 30 minutes away and we woke up on Wednesday and the sky was brown and and we couldn't see the sun. Crazy times!
We actually got to do real service this week!! Our stake decided to put on a food drive collection so we were in charge of going to all the member's houses to pick up the food. We got to meet more members in person, which is always fun and exciting. Our area is pretty big so we literally drove around for probably 3 hours getting food! Altogether our stake collected enough food to make 200 care packages for seniors!! It was pretty fun and nice to do something to help the community here :)
We also got to have more lessons with members in their homes this week!! Video and phone calls are great but there is something special about getting to be in a member's house. We taught a lesson about the will of God to one of our favorite families and the spirit was really strong as they testified that the message we shared was exactly what they needed to hear. I know that the spirit truly knows what each and every single one of us needs and that as we heed it's promptings we can be the answer to someone else's prayer!
Unfortunately a lot of our investigators have been kinda going through hard struggles right now so we haven't been able to have as many lessons with them as we would like. Rosa went to Mexico for an emergency, Sobedy got COVID-19, and Jose's brother passed away. It's kinda crazy to me how a lot of times when people are so close to a knowledge of the truth they fall away because of exterior factors. But it is just that much more of a testimony to me of the truthfulness of the gospel. Satan wouldn't try as hard as he does to lead people away from something that isn't true. Hopefully they will be able to see the Lord's hand in their lives that much more in their times of struggles and become converted in the gospel.
Other than that, not much more happened this week! I am working on patience in accepting the will of God in the work because lately the work has been slow and not going the way I want it to, but I know that the Lord is in charge. He is the gardener and as we strive to be instruments in His hands He will use us how He sees fit. Even if we don't see the fruits of our efforts immediately that doesn't mean they will go unnoticed.
I know this church is true and that Heavenly Father loves each and every one of us!! Have a great week!!
Con amor,
