Flying Solo

 Hola hola a todos!

This week was a little interesting to say the least. My companion got her wisdom teeth out last week and now I see why it is generally encouraged to have them out BEFORE the mission. Haha while she's been in recovery I have been flying solo working with the members, following up with our investigators, and teaching all the lessons over the phone. Haha I thought I would be used to it by now because that's basically what I had to do the first couple of weeks as a trainer while Hna Rawlings was still trying to learn Spanish, but this week was just a lot. I think companions are truly inspired for missionary work and just life in general because it lightens whatever load you are carrying to share it with another person :) Thankfully Hna Rawlings is feeling much better now so hopefully things will go back to normal this week!

But while I was kinda feeling overwhelmed and lonely in the work I read this talk by Elder Holland that really deepened my appreciation for the Savior and His Atonement. It is called "None Were with Him" and if you haven't gotten the chance to read it, I highly recommend :) He reflects on the loneliest journey that has ever been recorded in all of human history which is that of our Savior Jesus Christ in the culmination of His great atoning sacrifice. He had lived the most perfect life and yet in the final days of His journey, the people closest to Him either betrayed, abandoned, or denied him. None were with Him when He needed them most. But we know He had to endure all of that so that He could understand us PERFECTLY anytime we feel lonely, betrayed, or abandoned. And our own Heavenly Father never abandoned Him and so He too will never abandon us in our times of sorrow or trial. I am so so grateful for our Savior Jesus Christ and all that He did for me. He is the reason I am here on a mission!

We also saw a lot of small tender mercies this week in the work! Because Hna Rawlings couldn't do much and felt nauseous every time we got in the car, we weren't able to leave the apartment much, but we somehow found a lot of new people to teach! Most of them were old people that were taught before, but due to their busy schedules the missionaries lost contact with them. Thanks to COVID a lot more people are now more available to hear the message of the gospel! We had more people listen to church and actually gave out a Book of Mormon to Heriberto, one of our new people!

Anyways I know this gospel is true and I'm so grateful for the opportunity that I have to share it! I hope yall have a great week!! Love you all!

Con amor,
Hna Tate
