SpOokY SzN!!
Hey y'all!!
I cannot believe another week has come and gone!!
This week we found the coolest new person to teach!! Her name is Maria and she is 16 and actually lives on our street! She was taught by the missionaries in the past and was so close to baptism, but she said things kept happening that kept her from baptism the first time until eventually the missionaries stopped passing by. So we were so excited when she answered her door! She opened up to us about her confusion between churches. Her family is Catholic and she is in the process of being confirmed in the Catholic church, but she said now she is not sure because she feels like what we teach is good as well. We shared with her the message of the Restoration and introduced her to the Book of Mormon which went really well and she has been praying to know what to do! It was really neat though because in our lesson with her on Saturday she shared how the past missionaries that taught her a couple of years ago were actually reassigned from Puerto Rico due to a hurricane and she felt like God had sent them here to find her. In that moment the spirit prompted me to share with her how I too had been serving in another mission and that SHE was one of the reasons that God had reassigned me here. The spirit was so strong as I shared with her my testimony of God's love and plan for her and we were all almost moved to tears. It was seriously one of the best lessons I've ever had on my mission. I know that God sent me here to meet Maria and I am excited to see how I can help her come closer to Him!
We also had the opportunity to go to a baptism for the elders in our ward of an ENTIRE family!! The family Perea is a family that has been taught by the missionaries for a while and they have been wanting to get baptized but had to wait until they got married legally. On Friday Maria and Sergio Perea were married legally (after many many miracles) and Saturday them and their two children were baptized. It was probably one of the best baptisms I have ever been to because half of the people there were dressed in white and the spirit was just so strong! Bishop asked Hna Dimond and I to speak about the importance of our baptismal covenants and the Holy Ghost. It's really neat how both of those things really go hand in hand as we can be blessed to have the spirit as we keep our baptismal covenants and the blessing of the Holy Ghost can help us more easily keep our covenants.
We were able to have another exchange as well with some sisters so Sister Ware came to work with me in El Monte! She is a greenie missionary and just has so much excitement and energy for the work that is inspiring!! I love getting to serve with and learning from other sisters!
The familia Ortiz also came to church this past Sunday again!! We have been consistently teaching Eric and Hailey this week, so please keep them in your prayers!! Hopefully they can be baptized during one of these coming weeks!!
Overall this week was just so spiritually uplifting for me and has given me an even deeper gratitude for our Savior Jesus Christ! I feel so blessed to get to share His gospel everyday as a missionary and am so sad that time is going by so fast!! I love you all and hope you have a spooookkyyy weekend!! Happy Halloween!!
Con cariño,
Hna Tate
