Feliz día de acción de gracias!!
FELIZ DIA DE PAVO EVERYONE!! ¿Como están todos?
This past week was filled with ups and downs, as missionary work typically is, but in honor of Thanksgiving, I just want to focus on the things I am grateful for! First off, I am so grateful for the message that President Nelson gave last week. His message really uplifted and inspired me in ways I didn't even know I needed. We have been trying to incorporate his message into what we have been teaching and it has been extremely powerful!! One of our friends Eva recently had her brother pass away and when we shared the message with her she was really touched by President Nelson's story about losing his wife. When we asked her how she felt watching the video she was brought to tears as she explained the immense amount of peace and comfort that came while he spoke. The spirit was so strong as we testified to her that President Nelson really is a prophet of God and that his words are God's words! How blessed are we know that God can speak to us personally and to the whole world through His prophets and apostles!
I am so grateful for the chance I have to learn from and serve with so many other amazing missionaries!! I did 2 exchanges this week with 2 sisters that are actually finishing their missions this transfer. The exchanges were so fun and enlightening for me as I learned from them and their mission experience. Exchanges are always a time of miracles and we actually found some really awesome new people to teach together!! Christina, one of our friends we have been teaching for a while, actually let us teach her whole family and her kids are amazing!! We left her two boys who are around middle school age a children's Book of Mormon and invited them to read the first story. It was really cool because when we went back for our second lesson not only did the read the story, but they ALSO remembered it perfectly and recounted the Joseph Smith story back to us better than anyone I've ever taught!! I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to teach people the powerful message of the restoration and testify that Joseph Smith really did restore the church and that God hears and answers our prayers!!
I'm grateful for the Ortiz family! We have continued to teach them and the kids are so ready for baptism!! The only thing that is holding them back is their dad because he still doesn't think they are ready. At first that was frustrating to hear, but now we have been working even harder to have the whole family present in our lessons and praying together for Eric and Hailey's progression and baptism. Hopefully their dad will eventually see that they are ready and let them be baptized soon!! I know that the Lord is ultimately in charge of it all and I'm grateful for this obstacle because it has caused me to have to grow my faith and trust in the Lord even more. I know that He is watching over this family and everything will happen according to His will and timing.
I am also so grateful for the Book of Mormon and as we have been reading it together as a mission and marking all the references it makes to the Savior, I have felt my own personal relationship with Jesus Christ grow exponentially! I know that He is the Redeemer and Savior of the world. I am so grateful for His infinite and atoning sacrifice, that has brought me so much peace and comfort as I strive to overcome my weaknesses and imperfections. I am thankful for this time of the year that we have even more so to reflect on what we are grateful for and our Savior Jesus Christ!!
And lastly, I am so grateful for every single one of you and I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving spent with those you love!! Eat some yummy Turkey for me!!
Con amor,
