7 week countdown!!
Hey y'all!
First off all, I cannot believe how fast time has gone by. It's crazy I only have 7 weeks left in my mission!! Despite how much time I have, I feel like I am still learning new things everyday and time is only getting faster. I am so grateful to my Heavenly Father for blessing me with a healthy body to allow me to be out here! I am trying not to take a single day for granted.
We found a new friend to teach named Reina! She was a sweet old lady who typically works and hasn't been home the majority of the times we have tried to find her. But we decided to go by her house on Tuesday because it was her day off and she was actually cooking at home :) She offered us some mole (which is a delicious Mexican dish) and we graciously accepted. The next day when we had set up an appointment, she actually answered! (unlike the many times before). We found out that she actually has 4 children who have all been baptized in the church but she for some reason has her heart closed to accepting the gospel. On Friday we had a second lesson with her that was very spirit guided where we testified very simply and clearly of the Atonement. Her family has been through some difficult things over the years, but we helped her understand that her healing for all of it can only come through our Savior Jesus Christ. She has a testimony of the gospel already, knew how to pray, and said she had too many Book of Mormons in her house to count lol. I know that with the guidance of the spirit we can help her come to really recognize and act on her testimony of the restored gospel. Lessons like that make me so grateful for my calling and the knowledge I have gained by enduring through my own personal struggles of the Savior's infinite love and understanding through His sacrifice.
We also had some difficult days this week where literally everyone we talked to didn't want to listen to our message. Haha it was kinda hard but precisely in those moments members came to our rescue. The simplest things can mean the world to a missionary. The Lord hears and answers our prayers and this week He answered my prayers through a lot of good food from our loving members!!
Sunday was definitely the highlight of my week. We still are not having church in person, but our bishop told us that we could invite investigators to watch the service over Facebook with us in the capilla! We invited the Ortiz family to watch and they all came!! Afterwards Hermano Ortiz was able to get a blessing from the elders and they had a break through with him. I've never had more support from the other missionaries or ward in helping to reactivate and rescue a family! It's been a while since we've been able to have a lesson with them in person and it was just the biggest tender mercy to be in the chapel and afterwards we got to take the sacrament with them. Our other friend named Onorio also showed up to watch the service with us (about an hour later haha) and it was awesome!! This was only our second lesson with him and so the church and sacrament were all very new but he seemed to like it! We gave him a tour of the church afterwards and had the Perea family share their experiences of their baptisms 3 months ago. He seems to have a lot of potential and him coming to church was just the biggest tender mercy to me!!
Altogether this week was filled with many blessings big and small :) I am so grateful to be a missionary and for this area and because I have seen the Lord's hand daily here in His vineyard!! Hope yall have a great week!!
Con amor,
