Feliz año nuevo!! Nieve en Cali :)

Hey y'all!!

First of all FELIZ AÑO NUEVO!! I honestly didn't think I'd survive 2020 but here we are! 2021 and thriving!! So stoked for another year to be a disciple of Jesus Christ :)

This past week flew by! We were rather busy as always finding and teaching!! We have been sooo blessed especially in this time as a missionary to be able to find people to teach with the COVID craziness that is happening here in El Monte. Many of our friends, members, and missionaries in the mission have been hit with the virus so we've striving to be super careful when we go out. We actually had a really cool experience in finding a guy named Adrian. We were looking for a former investigator when my companion had the strongest impression to talk to a man across the street. He was sitting against his car smoking and basically did not give off the vibes of someone who I would normally approach on the streets to see if they wanted to hear a message of Jesus Christ. He also didn't look like he spoke Spanish. But we trusted in the spiritual prompting. He was a little interesting, but very open and sincere. He said that his sister was actually a member. We invited him to church the next day over Facebook and gave him a Book of Mormon. AND he actually CAME and READ!! We had a lesson with him a couple of days later and was so crazy to see how in just a short time he had already changed. He was using cleaner language and had a genuine interest in the Book of Mormon. I know that the gospel truly is so amazing because it has the power to CHANGE us. To learn about Jesus Christ and His gospel we can become better! There is hope in Christ to repent, become clean, and find eternal peace!

Some other random highlights of the week were that it RAINED! Like the for the first time since I've been here in California it really rained!! Which was sooo fun! What better way to show true dedication to the Lord and His work than to get out in the rain and share His glorious message :) It reminded me of the good old days when it would rain in Argentina. We also got to go on some fun hikes/exploring in the mountains! I definitely did not expect to see snow this winter in California but it was a happy surprise! I am so SO grateful for nature and all of God's creations!

One thing I have also been pondering a lot lately is the principle of faith. We taught a lesson to Ricardo this week, which was a rather frustrating lesson because he simply was not understanding the concept of faith. And then I realized why he was not understanding it. The principle of faith alone is not enough to bring understanding, peace and enlightenment. Faith MUST be rooted in Jesus Christ. We must understand who our Savior is, what He did for us, and how we can become like Him in order to truly be able to progress in this gospel. I am striving to strengthen my faith in my Savior Jesus Christ and His sacrifice. I know that He suffered for me. His atonement has a redeeming and enabling power that makes lifelong discipleship and conversion to Him possible! I truly know that this gospel is true because it is centered around Jesus Christ. Faith in Him is the very first step to understand, to change, and to become more like Him. I feel so blessed to be able to help others grow their faith of our Savior as a representative of Him!

I love you all and hope you all have a great week!!

Con amor,

Hna Tate
