Golden sun, contacts, and members
Hey y'all!!
This week was really good!! It flew by! As I am nearing the end of my mission (so so sad I know) I feel like time just keeps going by faster and faster! Just trying to enjoy every last minute here because I know these are times like no other!!
We had more opportunities it felt like to teach this week which was really nice! We have continued to teach Lorena, who has been reading the Book of Mormon and has been asking really good questions. Sadly, however she has returned to work and doesn't have much time off as a respiratory therapist so we haven't been able to teach her as much. But I know if she becomes truly converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ, she will make all the changes necessary in order to let God prevail in her life.
We also met a man named Gabriel in the park near the church who has become my new favorite person lol. We invited him to meet us at the church so we could teach him and he walked all the way to the church from his house the next day!! He is just the sweetest, most humble old man I've ever met! He doesn't know much about religion but is willing to learn more and has the purest heart!
We also began teaching Glenda and her son Miguel this week! We met them looking for a former investigator and wow, I have never come to love complete strangers so fast! They are from Guatemala and actually speak Ketchi, a Spanish dialect (I have noooo idea how to spell it lol) as their first language. Super crazy. She seemed to understand everything we said though and we ended up giving her a Book of Mormon in Ketchi!! Although the majority of the Hispanic population I've met here are from Mexico, its been really cool to meet people from other countries like Guatemala, El Salvador, and Ecuador! And her son Miguel who is 6 years old is literally the cutest kid I've ever met :))
We also had zone conference this week and zone councils where teaching simply and by the spirit was our focus. Recognizing and understanding when the spirit speaks to me has been something I've been working on and learning my whole mission. I know that revelation truly does come as we exercise our obedience, diligence, and faith in the Lord and His commandments, He does lead and direct us. It was cool to try to really teach and help our friends by addressing their needs according to the spirit, because He is the ultimate teacher and the converting tool in missionary work.
This week we also made a special effort to reach out to the members in our ward and had an awesome lesson with the Perea family. Wow that family is seriously so #golden. It's been cool to see their progress as new members of the ward since their baptism in November and how much enthusiasm and excitement they have for the gospel and missionary work! Even though I didn't teach them, meeting families like that give me hope that maybe some of the people and families I have taught will eventually progress to become like them.
I just want you all to know that I know that my Savior lives! He loves each and every one one of us and suffered for us. I am so eternally grateful for both the redeeming and the enabling powers of His atonement which I have come to deeper understand. I also know that God is our loving Heavenly Father. And there is nothing that can disqualify or take away the perfect love that He has for each and every one of us as His sons and daughters! We ALL have a divine potential and nature! This knowledge has brought me true peace and joy amidst the good times and the hard times in His vineyard :)
Hope you all have a great week!!
Con amor,
Hna Tate
