¡Feliz día de San Valentín!
Hey y'all!!
This week we got to have exchanges which were super fun!! I got to go with Hna Stahley on bikes!! I have only ridden a bike now for 2 days on the mission during exchanges, but I kind of wish it had been more because it was SO FUN!! We got to contact a ton and found many people for them to teach! It was really fun to be with Hna Stahley who is still in training, while I am on my last transfer. I remember being in her shoes like it was yesterday!! I also got to go on exchanges with Sister Morris and it was a PARTY! That girl is seriously so fun to be around because she is so positive and grateful for even the smallest things! We were able to find many people for their area as well! It was neat because at the beginning of the day we set goals for how many people we wanted to find and miraculously at the end of the day our goals were met! I know the Lord provided us with those miracles, big and small.
Meanwhile in our area we found a new lady named Gloria this week! We had an incredible restoration lesson with her and while we were on exchanges, Hna Valenzuela invited her to be baptized and she accepted! We are so excited for her and grateful that the Lord has put her in our path! She actually referred herself to the missionaries because she simply wanted to learn more about God and it has been so neat to help her learn more about the perfect love our Heavenly Father has for her!
We have been consistently teaching Blanca and Wilbert and they are seriously my favorite people ever. We basically have lessons with them pretty consistently, like every other day and they are so awesome! They lately have had some doubts about the Book of Mormon so we spent one lesson simply reading with them in Alma 7 and the spirit was so strong as we testified of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. It's interesting teaching them both because their needs individually and as a couple are so different from anyone I've ever taught before, but I know they have so much potential! They are seriously so sweet and bought us a whole pizza the other day to take home. And then donuts and hot chocolate. We told them they are like our family here in El Monte. It was really cool because Blanca told us the day that we met her on the street she was actually trying to leave in her car, but for some reason it wouldn't start. I remember that morning we had tried to contact and no one wanted to listen to us. We came back a little discouraged from the park, but I saw her in her car looking distressed and felt the spirit tell me we should go and talk to her. So we left and met her and now I cannot imagine our lives without them!
Sunday, for Valentines day we spent basically the whole day ministering the other Hnas in our ward and the sisters in our zone and it was so much fun! We actually helped serve one less active named Hna Terrasas feel loved. She was leaving the church when I decided to go and talk to her and she had tears well up in her eyes when I asked her how she was doing. We found out she has been going through an extremely difficult time with her family and we helped her get a blessing from the priesthood leaders in our ward. I am SO grateful for the priesthood and also felt so happy that we could serve her and help her feel comforted in her difficult situation. We also had an incredible lesson with Brandon Ortiz, another youth struggling in our ward about the Atonement on Sunday afternoon. It's really neat because one of the ways I have learned to recognize the spirit is when I find myself learning as I teach! I learned more about how the Savior truly did feel all of our pains, and sins, and sorrows in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the cross as He thought of each and every one of us by name as we testified of His sacrifice to Brandon. I am so grateful for the Holy Ghost who can teach us and bring us peace as we learn and deepen our understanding of our Savior Jesus Christ!
Well I hope you all had a great week and especially for all those in Houston, I hope yall stay warm!! Kinda jealous I'm not there for the crazy winter storm lol
Con amor,
Hna Tate
