No language barriers!!
Hey y'all!
First of all, I hope everyone in Houston this week has kept warm somehow and survived the winter storm. Every time we contacted someone on the street this week and I told them where I was from, they were all like oh no I'm so sorry for everything that's been happening in Texas... sooo people out here in California are worried about y'all!!
But we had a great week! We have continued to teach Blanca and Wilbert consistently and they are progressing well. Sadly they need to commit to get married before they can get baptized, but I know that the Lord will provide a way. We actually had a powerful lesson with them last night where we were very bold with them and helped them see why they need to make changes in their lives for this gospel. That is something that is often difficult to help people understand. But I know that the changes and sacrifices we make for Jesus Christ and His gospel to become more like Him are worth it. Our small sacrifices are ultimately more like an investment because we receive WAY more than we give up in terms of eternal blessings and happiness. Blanca and Wilbert still have a long way to go in terms of bringing their relationship together to focus on the Lord, but getting to testify to them of the importance of eternal families and temples really strengthened my own personal testimony and gratitude for the restored gospel, which has brought us that blessing!! Families are an AMAZING gift from God and we must cherish them!!
We also found a new friend named Gavino this week who shows a lot of potential!! He actually has very little knowledge about God and religion which is rare to find in the Latino culture. I love teaching people without a Christian background because there is just such a strong spirit and light that enters their eyes when we help them understand their own divine nature as a child of God and the love of our Heavenly Father! He was nervous to pray with us during our first lesson but ended up giving such a sincere prayer that melted my heart! He told us afterward that he honestly could not express how good he felt to pray. He said it was like he had a burden lifted off his shoulders. I love being a missionary!!
Other than that, this week was busy with 2 more exchanges!! I got to go with Sister Billat, one of the Chinese sisters!! Wow haha I thought it was hard to learn Spanish but I have soooo much respect for those who learn hard languages such as Chinese! Haha I literally could only pick out like 5 words in the lessons but that's okay lol. It really doesn't matter what language or culture the gospel is taught in, the spirit can still be felt and the message is the same. We got to go contacting which was so fun because between the two of us we had 3 languages and could actually talk to everyone, no language barriers! It was so much fun!! I now know how to say Jesus Christ and good job in Mandarin ;)
Overall I am just trying to enjoy every last second of being out here in El Monte! I love being a missionary and most importantly getting to share and testify of my Savior Jesus Christ with everyone all day every day!! I know there is no greater work than the gathering of Israel and I know we can all play an important role if we heed the promptings of the Holy spirit. Love you all!
Con amor,
Hna Tate
Lol sorry the only pictures I took this week were with other missionaries..
P.S. Hna Valenzuela has a secret obsession with the Kardashians so we had to take a pic
