Adios Argentina :(

Image
Hey guys!!  So just wanted to keep y'all updated on what's been going on here in Argentina if you haven't already heard. Unfortunately my mission is one of the many missions in the world that has been forced to send all the missionaries home to their native countries due to the risks of the corona virus. So I will have to return home to the U.S. where I will hopefully be able to finish my missionary service. Out of the 180 missionaries in my mission, only about 15 are from Argentina and will be able to stay. The church is working hard to get us all home safely as soon as possible, but right now we are not too sure on when that will be. Hopefully it will be within the next couple of weeks, as the entire country of Argentina right now is on quarantine lock down until the 1st of April.  We got the news last night and since then it has been very heartbreaking for all of us. I honestly never expected to have to leave Argentina so early into my mission and will miss thi...

Corona Chaos!!!

Hey guys!!  Wow what a time to be alive!! Haha kinda feels like we are living in the middle of an apocalypse! Hope you are all staying safe and taking precautions and stocking up on your toilet paper!! (still not too sure why people are freaking out about toilet paper....?) This week was kinda crazy!! First off, I got mi hija (trainee), Hna Nazareth, and she is the BEST!! Haha she is from Brazil and although I never imagined I would ever have a companion from Brazil, between the two of us we speak 3 languages which is pretty sweet!! Her Spanish is pretty good though and she was literally contacting and talking to people on the street from her first day!! #proudmom. Even though training takes a long of patience and teaching, I really got lucky with her because she came into the field ready!!  But, our week was a little hard just because we are still both so new to our area. La Loma is literally in the middle of the city of Salta and is gorgeous!! But man it is a ...

I'M GOING TO HAVE AN HIJAAA!!!

HEY YALL!!!  BIG NEWSSSS!!! Today is transfers day and I ́m going to be transferred out!! My new area is called La Loma and it is in the capital of Salta!! But I won't get to my new area until Wednesday night because I am going to be TRAINING!!!!  Just to explain some missionary terms for those who don't know - training happens to every missionary in the first two transfers of the mission here in the field! All the trainers who will be training this new group of missionaries meet up in the mission offices in Salta capital on Tuesday night and welcome the new missionaries. Then the next day we have a training and get assigned our companions!! The trainers are referred to as mamis or papis (mom or dad) and the trainee is the hija or hijo! Hna Folau was my mami and now I am going to have an hija!! Ahhh so stoked!! But I'm also super scared because that means I will be whitewashing my area. Whitewashing is when BOTH the missionaries are new to the area so we basically w...

tears and testimonies

Holaaaa amigos y familia!! First off, the highlight of my week was definitely sacrament meeting on Sunday. Sunday morning started off pretty frustrating. We passed by a lot of our people like normal and couldn't find any of them that wanted to come with us to church. Haha its kinda funny because I swear everyone is willing to receive us ANY day during the week EXCEPT for Sunday mornings when we invite them to come with us to church!! But anyways we passed by Ulises and Naim's house (our recent converts) to wake them up for church and bring their 8 year old sister Victoria who we've been preparing for baptism. Ulises answered the door and said that all of his family was asleep and didn't want to get up for church. But he said he wanted to come!! Haha he is my new favorite child:)) This Sunday was fast and testimony meeting and we of course encouraged him and another boy Maxi (a menos activo who we've become friends with) to get up and bear their testimon...
